PostSubject: Ceonn's weekly report! Sunday, May 2nd!   Mon May 03, 2010 1:22 am

I deeply apoligize about being late with this one. My computer had a virus, and I couldn't afford a new os, so I had to use my friends comp to keep in touch with people. Anyways, here it is now!

Let's start off with another review!

This time we have Disgaea 3, probably the best tactics game I have ever played.

Story-line 8/10

We begin the story with a demon named mao, who attends Evil Acadamy. A place where honor students are bullies and don't attend class etc. and where delinquents are those who allways attend class and get good grades. Mao is the number 1 honor student at Evil Acadamy. He has never attended 1 class, ever, and he regularly performs experiments on the people around him. Oh, and he's the son of the Overlord of Evil Acadamy's realm. Mao believes he ahs to be greater then his father, and that begins a humerous journey to become the overlord of Evil Acadamy, cause he stepped on his slaystation, with millions of hours on it gone.

The story is interesting and will allways have you paying close attention. Plus, the characters constantly break the fourth wall, which results in very humerous moments. The charcters are memorable and very unique in each of their own ways. plus the story manages to be serious when it gets to those serious moments, so it isn't all comedy. The story can be enjoyed by anyone who wants to. Plus, if you have played Disgaea 1 and 2, you will be pleased to know there are countless cameos from the previous games, and other games made by nippon ichi.

Gameplay 9/10

The gameplay is very addicting. You get to pick up to 10 characters to take into battle and move them across the map in a tile based environment. You can have your characters attack, use skills, lift and throw objects, and cast magic. The battlefield also has it's dangers though. On the field are geo cubes, which are stackable geo symbals if you played the first and second games. They cause special effects to happen on spots on the field with geo tiles on them. Destroying a geo symbol on those colored tiles results in a geo chain if the geo cube is not of the same color. If you use a null cube to do this, it will get rid of the tiles completely. Anyone standing on a tile during this will take damage, and if the null cubes destruction removes all tiles on the map then the enemies on the map will take extra damage after the chain.

Outside of battles you get a home base area, where you can buy and sell items freely. You get the evility shop, which allows you to spend mana, a currency earned in battle along with experience and money, or hell as this game puts it, on new skills for your characters or special abilities related to your class. You get to enter the Item World, which allows you to enter a giant random generated dungeon inside an item in your inventory, any item, to increase it's power.

In the item world you cannot leave until you get to the tenth floor of your item, so be sure you are ready for a battle when you enter. Each floor is randomly created, and the enemies inside will get more powerful as you go down in floors. it is not endless, as items have a floor limit, but what that floor limit is you have to find out. As you continue down the dungeon, you will meet pirates, who attack and inturrupt your battles when you take to much time. Defeating each type of pirate earns you the Land of Carnage, a place where only the most skilled players can go and survive.

In order to manage your characters and such, you get a homeroom, which is basically your base of operations. Here you can create students of many different classes and talk to all of your classmates which you have created. You can also pass bills with the student council, where you must bribe each and every one of them to get them to agree with whatever your demands are, or you can just kick the crud out of them. Whatever you feel like doing. It costs mana to create characters and pass bills, so be sure you have enough. You can also put characters into clubs to make them more close to eachother. It also allows them to do more team attacks in battle and gives various bonuses depending on the club you let your characters into. In order to get new clubs you must meet their requirements and then pass a bill to use them.

Your characters can be powerful weapons of destructions if you wish it, and here is how. There is a level max in this game, but it's unlike any max level you have ever known before. The max level for each character is 9999. Yes you see this correctly. you can level up your characters to level 9999. Plus, your monster type haracters can become weapons for your characters if you put them in the same club with eachother. There is an incredible list of classes to choose from, enough to make it so you won't be dissapointed anytime soon.

Graphics 6/10

The only really dissapointing part of this game. All the characters are in sprite form in 3d environments. It's dissapointing for a ps3 game. It doesn't take away from the gameplay though, so it's not to noticeable.

Sound/voicing 8/10

The games soundtrak has a wide variety and nothing dissapoints. It's got classic songs from the older disgaea games and new songs that fit the game perfectly. The voice acting is simply amazing, and i wouldn't change a thing in that area.

Replayability 10/10 <---- This game earned that in replayability. I mean it.

This game has massive replayability. With a max level of 9999 and an incredible host of post-game content, inclusing dlc from PSN, you have at least 60+ hours of gameplay, not counting the storyline! If you like tactics games, and have played nippon ichi games before, then this game is simply a must have for your collection. Not to mention maxing out all your items with item world, and... the land of carnage. Tack on another 40 hours.

Final Score 8.2/10

This game will keep you coming back, and you won't get bored with it for a long time. Expect to be completely satisfied by it's amazing performance in this respect! =D

Another great report, Ceonn! Very Happy Very well-written Disgaea 3 review!! I love the Disgaea games, and I really need to play more Disgaea 3, but other games keep popping up and taking up my time... and Disgaea's definitely a series that you can sink ALL your time into if you're not careful... X3
